Legal
Terms of Service
Last updated: 5 October 2026 (version 2026-10-05.2)
Welcome to ApplyList. Please read these Terms of Service carefully. Creating an
account, ticking the acceptance box at signup, or using ApplyList means you have
read and agree to this document. If you do not agree, please do not register or
use the service.
These Terms, and how we run ApplyList, are meant to follow the laws of the Islamic Republic of Iran — especially the Electronic Commerce Act and the Consumer Protection Act — as well as ordinary good-faith dealing. You also agree to use the service in line with those laws. Where a rule of mandatory law cannot be changed by contract, that rule prevails over this text.
1. Who we are and what ApplyList is
ApplyList (applylist.ir and related pages, including the Android WebView app if
you use it) is a software tool for organizing graduate and research applications.
Depending on your plan and on how the server is configured, it may include:
- Professors and Positions — personal lists you create and manage;
- Database — a catalog of faculty entries mirrored from public university
pages, subject to publication and removal rules; - Assistant — drafting help and Q&A through third-party model providers;
- Paid plans — billed through the configured payment gateway (Zibal in Iran, OxaPay elsewhere);
- Support, help pages, and ordinary account tools.
The service is operated by the owner of ApplyList (“we”, “us”, or “ApplyList”).
“You” means the person using an account.
2. Accounts
You should only open an account if you can enter a binding agreement under the
laws that apply to you. Please give accurate signup details and keep your
password private. Activity on your account is treated as yours. If you think
someone else has access, tell us as soon as you can through Support.
We may ask you to confirm your email before some features unlock. Parts that
depend on email, payments, or an external AI provider may be unavailable when
those integrations are not set up on the server.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these Terms, is used for abuse,
or creates a serious legal or operational risk. You may stop using the service
at any time.
3. What ApplyList is — and is not
ApplyList is a productivity tool. Catalog data, deadlines, help text, blog posts,
and AI drafts are not legal, immigration, admissions, financial, or career
advice. Choices about whom you contact, what you write, and where you apply remain
yours. Please check important facts yourself before you rely on them.
4. Your content
You keep the rights you already have in what you enter (contacts, notes,
positions, resume files, assistant messages, support tickets, and similar
“your content”).
We do not claim ownership of your personal tracking lists. By using the service
you allow us to host, store, process, back up, and display your content only as
needed to run, secure, maintain, and improve ApplyList and to meet legal duties.
You are responsible for your content: that it is lawful, that you may store it,
and that you have the right to keep other people’s contact details you add
yourself (for example professor emails). Please do not upload illegal, harmful,
or infringing material.
We take ordinary care to keep the service running and to protect account data
with reasonable technical measures. No online service can promise perfect
uptime or perfect security. Please keep your own copies of anything important.
We are not liable for loss or corruption of data caused by factors outside our
reasonable control (for example your device, your internet connection, a
compromised password you shared, or a failure at a payment or AI provider),
except where mandatory law says otherwise.
5. Catalog and third-party sources
Database entries come from public university pages and similar sources. They
may be incomplete or out of date. Published listings can be taken down after
editorial review or a removal request. Scraping does not guarantee a complete
or perfect directory.
We are not responsible for the content of third-party websites, payment
gateways, email providers, model providers, or universities you reach through
or because of ApplyList.
6. AI assistant
When the assistant is available, prompts may include context from your saved
contacts, positions, resume settings, and chat history, and are sent to
third-party model providers. Answers can be wrong or incomplete. The assistant
should not invent your background; unknown details should stay as placeholders —
but you should still review every draft before you send it.
Outcomes of emails you send, applications you make, or funding results are
outside our control.
7. Plans and payments
Paid features need an active plan. Prices are shown in the service (gateway
amounts may be in Rial; Toman may appear for display). Payment is handled by
the configured gateway.
Plans renew or extend according to what you buy and any admin grant. Subject to
mandatory consumer rights under Iranian law (including distance-contract rules
in the Electronic Commerce Act where they apply), fees for a period already
started are generally not refunded once access has been given. Future prices may
change. Unpaid charges or chargebacks may remove paid features.
Before you buy, the pricing page states what each plan includes. If a paid
feature is unavailable for a reason attributable to us, contact Support so we
can look into a fair remedy.
8. Acceptable use
Please use ApplyList lawfully and respectfully. Do not:
- try to break into the service, other accounts, or our systems;
- overload or scrape the service beyond normal use;
- spam, harass, defraud, or mislead anyone;
- upload malware or illegal content;
- misuse catalog data in a way that violates privacy or publicity rights;
- resell or sublicense the service without our written consent.
We may investigate and, where needed, suspend access or report serious abuse.
9. Our commitments
Within the limits of the law and available resources, we aim to:
- provide the software features described for your plan;
- handle account and technical data carefully and not sell your personal tracking
lists; - publish important changes to these Terms on this page;
- respond to Support tickets in good faith.
Temporary maintenance, outages, or disruptions outside our control may still
happen.
10. Intellectual property
ApplyList’s software, branding, design, and original materials (other than your
content and third-party catalog sources) belong to us or our licensors. You get
a limited, personal, non-transferable right to use the service for your own
academic-application purposes under your plan. No other licence is granted.
11. Limits of liability
We provide ApplyList with reasonable care. We do not guarantee that it will meet
every need, run without interruption, or that every catalog or AI result will be
accurate.
Except where Iranian mandatory law does not allow a limit:
- we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss (such as lost
opportunity, lost admissions chances, or loss of goodwill); - for matters we are responsible for under these Terms or the law, our total
liability linked to the service in any twelve-month period is limited to the
amounts you paid us for ApplyList in that same period (or, if you paid
nothing, to a fair amount set by the competent authority or court).
Nothing here removes liability that the law forbids us from excluding —
including, where applicable, liability for intentional misconduct or gross
negligence.
12. Changes
We may update these Terms. The version number (2026-10-05.2) and the date
above will change when we do. The new text is published on this page. Continued
use after publication means you accept the update, unless mandatory law requires
a different form of consent. When a change is material, we will try to mention
it in the service or by email when that is practical.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Disputes
are handled by the competent Iranian courts, without prejudice to mandatory
consumer protections that cannot be waived.
14. Contact
Questions about these Terms can go through Support in the service or the
contact details published on the website.
These Terms replace earlier versions on the same subject. If one part cannot be
enforced, the rest still applies.
